1. Fimic goes to China with other Nordic music information centres
Fimic will attend Music China trade event in Shanghai, China, on 13 - 16 October 2009. The music information centres of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden will have a joint exhibition area at the trade event, together with some Nordic music publishers, for example Fennica Gehrman from Finland.
The project aims to make contact with Chinese music professionals and music business, and introduce Nordic contemporary music in the Chinese market. Music China is one of the biggest trade events in the field of music in all Asia, and it attracts visitors from all continents, above all from China and other Asian countries. Last year, Music China was visited by 43 000 people.
The Nordic exhibition area is coordinated by Fimic, with funding by Nordic Cultural Foundation. .
2. ISCM World Music Days in Sweden
Maija Hynninen's work for vocal quartet, In case of emergency, will be premiered at the yearly ISCM World Music Days, arranged this year at three locations in Sweden from 24 September to 4 october. Hynninen's work will be heard in Visby on 25 September 2009. Other Finnish names at this years ISCM festival include Tapio Tuomela (Kyrie eleison, on 24 Sep in Visby), Timothy Page (Philomela on 28 Sep in Växjö), Johan Tallgren (Tombeau pour New York, on 29 Sep in Växjö), Kaija Saariaho (Je sens un deuxième cœur, on 1 Oct in Gothenburg), Paola Livorsi (In between, on 1 Oct in Gothenburg) and Jukka Tiensuu (Umori on 2 Oct in Gothenburg).
3. Aikamme kirkkomusiikkia - Festival of contemporary church music
The yearly festival of contemporary church music, titled in Finnish "Aikamme kirkkomusiikkia", takes place this year from 3 to 11 October 2009 in Tapiola Church, Espoo. Several premieres will be on the programme, for example, Matthew Whittall's liturgical choral work Mikaelsdagens psalm, and Paavo Heininen's Virsimessu (Hymn Mass).
4. Markku Klami's new works home and abroad
Markku Klami's new work Göreme (2009, for guitar and tape) will be premiered in Helsinki on 26 Sep 2009, as part of Ears Open society's concert focusing on Italian and Finnish guitar music. The guitarist Patrik Kleemola will be performing Göreme also in Milan, Italy, on 8 Oct, and Klami's other guitar work Cinque miniature in Rome on 12 Oct.

- Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra will premiere Olli Virtaperko's Kuru on 7 Oct 2009
- Ilkka Kuusisto's opera Kohti kotia will be premiered in Isokyrö, Finland, on 23 Oct 2009
