Born in 1997 and named after a mythical wild man accused of slaughtering a party of Swedish priests back in the day, Finntroll fuses traditional folk hoedowns with the epic grandeur of black metal. Now the band is one of the leading lights of the folk/pagan metal scene that has exploded worldwide. |

The new album Nifelvind was recorded at Helsinki's Sonic Pump studios and continues to work the Finntroll myth towards perfection. The Swedish-language lyrics deal in the ageless legends common to all human cultures. Finntroll continue the singing of the songs that made us human all those epochs ago. The influences and instrumentation are broader than ever, encompassing everything from 80s grooves and sinister soundscapes to brutal death and black metal.
This is the real folklore.

SXSW is huuuuuuuuge. It's so enormous, it generates its own weather system consisting of beer fumes, mole verde and option anxiety. In other words, anyone that ventures too close and risks getting sucked into the maelstrom needs a guide, an idea, an agenda...
But there's hope. Finland will throw you an anchor. For a complete list of Finnish shows at SXSW, click the link below.

And in the immediate vicinity of the resulting brouhaha, you'll find Finland. Lengthy tours and high-profile shows from over 10 acts have taken place already this year and we´re expecting to see that number rising to over 20 this year!
